On Wednesday, the Cabildo de Tenerife reopened the TF-24 highway (La Esperanza) and TF-21 (La Orotava) after removing ice sheets from the roads. However, they have implemented heightened precautions for anyone travelling on these routes.
Consequently, all access points to the Teide National Park were operational, with the southern part of the TF-38 having already reopened as of Tuesday, as announced by the Insular Corporation.
The Cabildo deactivated the Insular Emergency Plan of Tenerife (PIN) on Wednesday morning after the pre-alert situation for rainfall and snow, declared by the Canary Islands government, was lifted. Nonetheless, travel along the trails in the National Park that lead to the peak, as well as the forest tracks affected by the 2023 fire, remains prohibited to ensure the safety of the public.
These regulations apply broadly to the public, although federated mountaineers and certified official tourist guides may access the trails if they possess the required basic winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and piolet), and have submitted a responsible declaration along with the necessary authorisation via the Tenerife On website and application (https://www.nertifeon.es).
Likewise, access to forest areas and trails is still restricted due to the Arafo forest fire in 2023, as the risk of landslides continues to be a concern.
