Santa Cruz de Tenerife 14 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has sanctioned an investment of 3.8 million euros aimed at tackling drought and enhancing hydraulic infrastructure.
This allocation will enable the Insular Water Council of Tenerife to initiate various projects (1.7 million euros), improve ongoing works (1.4 million euros), and develop new initiatives (634,000 euros).
The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, mentioned in a statement that this investment is crucial to ensuring water security in Tenerife.
“We at the Cabildo are acting decisively to strengthen the integral water cycle and modernise our infrastructure. Our target is for Tenerife to become more resilient against drought, ensuring that no productive sector suffers from water scarcity,” she remarked.
Furthermore, the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Safety and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, indicated that this financial boost is vital for continuing projects, including 1.2 million euros for the urban supply corridor from the north of Tenerife – Phase A: Los Campitos Valle Molina, and 500,000 euros for desalted and regenerated water pipelines extending from San Isidro to the link of the South Tenerife Airport (West Expansion Phase I) and even the industrial estate of Las Andoriñas (Western Extension Phase II).
The 1.4 million euros also covers improvements to infrastructure currently under construction, both in the northern and southern parts of the island.

Accordingly, around 770,500 euros are designated for the implementation of the adduction and storage of the Edas de Cruz de Rarifs (La Guancha), and 100,000 euros for enhancements to the treatment station and emissary of the silos (island Low).
Concerning the actions in the south, 200,000 euros have been allocated for the expansion of the EDAM of Granadilla, 190,000 euros for the Edam de Fonsalía, and 100,000 euros for the installation of photovoltaic panels for self-consumption at the EDAM of Abona.
Lastly, 100,000 euros are set aside for the early warning system (instrumentation and works for automatic hydrological information systems).
Additionally, the Tenerife Water Council operates with foresight to accommodate the projects required by the island.
Thus, an allocation of approximately 634,000 euros has been earmarked for drafting various projects, including a study of regenerated waters in Abona and the usage of the river dam.
Similarly, plans will be drafted for the sanitation and purification system of the Baja-Fase II Island, improvements to the Juan Fernández promotion, the final section of the general collection of Valle Guerra, and the transport of desalinated watering water within the territorial system of the northwest-raman east.
The contribution from the Cabildo to the Insular Water Council of Tenerife will also facilitate the drafting of the reversible electrodialysis project (EDR) at the lawyers’ building, along with the sanitation, purification, and metropolitan II regeneration II projects.
