Santa Cruz de Tenerife 8 Feb. (Europa Press) –
A 62-year-old tourist of German nationality has passed away this Saturday after experiencing a fall at Pico de la Cruz in the municipality of Vallehermoso on the island of La Gomera, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m., when the 1-1-2 control room received a notification about the accidental fall of a hiker in the specified location. Consequently, CECOES promptly activated the necessary emergency resources to respond to the area.
Upon arrival, the rescuers from the GES helicopter located the man and commenced his rescue, transferring him to the medical team dispatched to the scene.
The medical personnel discovered that the individual had sustained injuries that were incompatible with life and confirmed his passing.
Following this, the Civil Guard took responsibility for securing the body and carrying out the appropriate procedures.
