This evening at 7:00 p.m., the fairground will witness the inaugural phase of the children’s murgas contest, marking the commencement of the Carnival festivities. The event will kick off with Cabito taking to the stage, followed by performances from frikywiky’s, long languages, raviscuditos, mamelons, twisting, distracted, and carricitos, who will conclude the evening’s entertainment.
This year, a total of 15 groups will compete in the contest, which will culminate on Saturday with the second phase, following the Councilor for Fiestas, Javier Caraballero’s decision to limit the number of phases to two and make both free of charge. The identity of the winners will be revealed after the final session of performances by the children’s murgas, with each group showcasing two pieces in addition to their introduction and farewell.
The panel of judges for the presentations includes Marta Palmero, a specialist in characterisation and styling; Cristina Alejandra Martín, an experienced costume technician; Beatriz Delgado, a Fine Arts graduate from Fernando Estévez School; Noemí Torres, a Higher Technician in Styling; and designer Maira Yvett Morillo. In terms of interpretation, the judges will be Eduardo Hernández from the municipal band; Teresa de Jesús Jerónimo, a Coral Director; Mercedes Cabrera, the Children’s Choir Director; Daida Reyes, an announcer; actress and presenter Alicia Rodríguez; journalist JJ Rodríguez-Lewis; and Martha Sofía Quiñones from Did.
