The specialists from the Scientific Committee for the Assessment and Monitoring of Volcanic Activity (CCES), which is part of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response due to volcanic hazards in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (PEVOLCA), concur in characterising the current activity as “anomalous”. The Teide volcanic structure shows indications that, although “do not appear to be signs of an imminent eruptive event, do signify a heightened likelihood of such an occurrence in the medium to long term”.
