SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The public hospitals of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) will offer this Tuesday, May 30, on the occasion of Canary Islands Day, special menus made with products from the land with which people admitted can enjoy the commemoration of this festivity tasting dishes typical Canarian gastronomy that will help make your hospitalization more bearable.
Since the admitted patients present different pathologies, the menus prepared will follow the medical guidelines and will be adapted to the nutritional needs of the patients. For this reason, the meals will be adapted in different versions, such as for diabetics, hypertensive people or those who must follow low-fat or astringent diets.
Thus, the kitchen service of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria will offer hospitalized patients watercress stew for the first course, rabbit in salmorejo and wrinkled potatoes for the second course, and gofio mus for dessert. Likewise, for patients with diabetes, the salmorejo will be replaced by rabbit cooking in the oven and natural papaya will be offered for dessert.
Patients admitted to the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Canarias (HUC) will enjoy a special menu prepared by the center’s kitchen, which will consist of watercress puree with smoked cheese for first course, cod with sweet potatoes, wrinkled potatoes and mojo colorado for second course and, for dessert, mus de gofio.
The Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria joins the commemoration of Canary Islands Day and will offer its patients first course watercress stew, muddy pork loin with a garnish of wrinkled potatoes for second course and gofio custard with palm honey for dessert . As a therapeutic diet, the following dishes will be offered: cream of watercress, baked pork loin with apple sauce and a garnish of beautiful potatoes with coriander and gofio mus.
The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital in Lanzarote will offer its patients a special menu consisting of a Canarian salad for starter, sancocho with wrinkled potatoes, sweet potato and mojo sauce for second course and, for dessert, mus de gofio.
For its part, at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura the menu will consist of watercress stew for the first course, goat meat in sauce for the second course and Majorero cheese and gofio pella and Mari Pepa cake for dessert. In addition, for people with special diets, a supreme of hake with onion and custard for dessert has been prepared.
The University Hospital of La Palma has prepared a menu that includes vegetable stew for first course, ribs, potatoes and pineapples with cilantro mojo sauce for second course and banana and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
At the Nuestra Señora de los Reyes Hospital, in El Hierro, a menu will be offered based on noodle soup for the first course, Canarian stew for the second course and quesillo for dessert. In addition, and whenever the optional indication allows it, frangollo with milk will be offered for breakfast and quesadilla will be served at snack time.
Patients admitted to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, in La Gomera, will be able to enjoy watercress stew with soft cheese for the first course, tuna with coriander mojo sauce accompanied by sweet potatoes for the second course and roasted milk with palm honey for dessert. In addition, breakfast will be served biscuit with chocolate.
For its part, at the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario Insular-Materno Infantil, in Gran Canaria, on this occasion it has not been possible to prepare a special menu for Canary Islands Day, as in previous years, due to the fact that the kitchen service of the complex ends to complete a routine and previously scheduled audit process, so it has not been possible to prepare a different menu from the one already stipulated in the monthly programming of this service.
