Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Vital Road: A Journey With Five Million ONCE Coupons

Castillo Street, a key commercial avenue in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is featured as the theme for the ONCE Daily Coupon this Monday, as reported by the city council in an official announcement.

Part of the At street level series, five million coupons will showcase the image of this significant commercial pathway throughout Spain.

The city’s Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, expressed gratitude to the social organisation “for highlighting one of the most essential routes in the city, where vendors work daily to spread joy to thousands of visitors travelling down Castillo Street.”

Furthermore, the director of ONCE in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Andrés Guillén, expressed his enthusiasm “for featuring the iconic Castillo street in the coupon set for next Monday, January 13, where supporters of our social initiative pass by every day,” adding that “this serves as a homage to the city of Santa Cruz and its residents.”

The city council emphasises that Castillo Street is among the “oldest in Santa Cruz de Tenerife,” dating back to the early 17th century, and derives its name from the Castillo de San Cristóbal, a fortification established in 1575 near the street.

As a pedestrian thoroughfare, it commences at Plaza Weyler, traverses Plaza de La Candelaria, and concludes at Plaza de España. The street showcases buildings in diverse architectural styles.

Additionally, it serves as a commercial district featuring local shops and renowned brands, hospitality venues, as well as important cultural sites, including art galleries and both historical and contemporary bookstores.

The ‘At street level’ series explores the most iconic roads in 50 cities, bustling with life and individuals moving from side to side. These are the same thoroughfares where ONCE vendors share their enthusiasm and fortune.
