The Cabildo of Tenerife has once again launched the XXVII Crafts Fair in Reyes, located at the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz, alongside the XVI Christmas Crafts Market, which unfolds at the Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna, featuring around 75 producers across both locations. Both events will be accessible to the public until this Sunday, January 5, aiming to encourage the promotion of both traditional and innovative crafts. In the capital, 46 stalls have been designated for artisans offering 29 distinctive modalities, while La Laguna showcases 31 stalls with 23 different varieties.
The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the regional president, Fernando Clavijo; Minister of Employment, Efraín Medina; the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez; and the mayor of Fiestas, Javier Caraballero, inaugurated the exhibition in the capital yesterday.
Following this, Dávila, Clavijo, and Medina proceeded to La Laguna, where they joined mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and the Councilor for Local Development, Domingo Galván, for a tour of the XVI Christmas Craft Market. Rosa Dávila emphasised that “this occasion is much more than a fair, as it represents a tradition that celebrates the efforts of our artisans, who are the guardians of our culture and heritage.” “This year, we have approximately 75 artisans showcasing the finest from 30 craft modalities, ranging from ceramics and jewellery to leather products and fabric decorations,” the island president remarked.
Fernando Clavijo expressed gratitude to the Cabildo for its dedication “to local products, Canarian crafts, and trades that, without these fairs and markets, along with the support they receive, might have vanished,” and encouraged citizens to explore the various stalls on offer.
Meanwhile, Efraín Medina expressed his “enthusiasm for these two craft markets in Santa Cruz and La Laguna. They form part of our heritage and legacy, and I invite everyone to visit them, as they truly showcase remarkable works.”
