Francis González, the local general secretary of Coalición Canaria in Icod de los Vinos and former mayor of this Tenerife municipality, has accused the government team led by his successor, Javier Sierra (Alternativa Icodense), of “opposing the interests of municipal employees, local police, and national representatives.” Furthermore, he is of the opinion that the current Icod administration “has surrendered” in the legal proceedings that resulted in the annulment of the salary increments for national representatives – auditor, secretary, and treasurer – as well as the Local Police staff, which were sanctioned in 2021, precisely during Francis González’s tenure as mayor.
