Santa Cruz is set to unveil a new public parking facility with two levels in the Ofra neighbourhood. This parking area will offer a total of 80 spaces, two of which will be designated for individuals with reduced mobility (PRM).
The construction on this parking lot, situated on Juan Albornoz Sombrita Street in the Ofra-Costa Sur area, is anticipated to be finalised by the end of September.
The city’s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, disclosed yesterday that this project has received a funding of €500,000 and aims to address “a longstanding request from residents and a promise to the community, which requires these parking spots to ease congestion and enhance the quality of life for locals and tourists.”
Additionally, the Public Services Councillor, Carlos Tarife, highlighted that “the council is actively working on establishing new parking solutions across all five districts of the city.” He elaborated that “these efforts also involve building four pedestrian crossings on Juan Albornoz Sombrita Street and the restoration of the road surface on Juan Rodríguez Santos Street.”
In parallel, the councillor for the Ofra-Costa Sur region, Santiago Díaz, outlined that “the upper level of the forthcoming car park will cover an area of around 1,000 square metres, while the lower level, spanning 3,000 square metres, will accommodate a total of 58 vehicle spaces.”
