A palm grove in the Canary Islands, converted into “a great Santeria garbage dump”

The Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation has criticized on social networks that the ravine of the Cercado del Parque Rural de Anaga, one of the most spectacular palm groves in Tenerife, has become “a great garbage dump” due to the practice of Santeria rituals.

The Foundation, which is dedicated to scientific dissemination and environmental awareness, affirms that this situation has been occurring for years in various parts of Anaga and the rest of the island and, specifically, the Cercado ravine “is already the heritage of those who practice esoteric”.

Garbage, amulets, coins and animal remains are “his sad legacy”, as can be seen in images captured last Tuesday that show various types of waste, including the remains of decapitated birds.

The Foundation considers it “intolerable to endure such unpleasant visions” in a natural space and regrets that if public administrations do nothing to prevent it, it will be necessary invoke Guayota, a deity “older, more powerful and rooted in this land”, refers to the aboriginal god of evil, who for the Guanches lived inside the volcanoes.
