SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 3 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Lucía Hernández Cubas has been selected as the Romera Mayor of the Patron Saint Festivities of Santa Ana and San Roque de Garachico during a ceremony attended by over a thousand individuals. The jury announced the decision at midnight. Representing Casco, she was named Romera Mayor at the Fiesta de las Tradiciones, an event that honours Canarian traditions. The theme of the event was ‘5 bonitas razónes’.
The five Canarian towns included in the national tourist network ‘One of the most beautiful towns in Spain’ were highlighted during the night. Each town (Garachico, Tejeda, Betancuria, Teguise, and Agulo) had a representative who acted as hosts of the Fiesta de las Tradiciones. This was a significant moment in the event’s history, as in the past, this role was fulfilled by an individual.
Following the ceremony, Garachico will kick off the celebration for one of its patron saints, San Roque. Today, Saturday, the Romería Chica will take place, followed by the Baile de Magos (Magicians’ Ball) on the next Saturday, August 10, and concluding on Friday, August 16, with the Romería in honour of San Roque.
