**Strategic Framework for Elderly Care in Tenerife**
Autonomy, well-being, social environment, territoriality, and management are the five key focus areas of the Islénior Strategic Framework for Elderly Care in Tenerife. This plan aims to meet the needs of the approximately 160,000 elderly individuals on the island, based on criteria established through “the most extensive participatory process in this area in the Canary Islands.” The comprehensive and specialised design of the plan serves as a precursor to the first Elderly Care Plan in Tenerife, set to be launched in September. This new plan will offer transversal solutions to address the various needs of the elderly population, with a range of measures aimed at improving access to resources and bridging the digital divide. The presentation of this “key tool” took place at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds and was attended by about 400 people. Lope Afonso, the vice president of the Cabildo, stated, “Today, we are fulfilling a historical commitment to the elderly in our community.” Águeda Fumero, the Minister of Social Action, emphasised that this initiative is a reflection of their dedication to meeting the needs of the elderly population.
