SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Child and Family Care Service created by the Cabildo de La Gomera has carried out a total of 471 actions on the island during its first year of activity, as reported by the insular president, Casimiro Curbelo, who pointed to the importance and usefulness of this service “for the execution of actions to promote the well-being and integral development of minors on the island”.
Casimiro Curbelo highlighted the integrating nature of this program that “in addition to having a fixed information and service point in the municipality of San Sebastián, the activity has been completely itinerant to meet the needs that arise in the different municipalities, in direct cooperation with the social services of the local administrations”.
The island president also emphasized the multidisciplinary team that this initiative has, “since it allows a comprehensive approach to the care services that are provided, and which is made up of a psychologist, a social worker and a teacher, who, In addition, they have been in constant training during this first year to guarantee the quality of the service provided”.
Among the main actions that have been carried out during the first year of activity of this service, special attention should be paid to the intervention in the Vallehermoso Island Center for Minors, managed by the Cabildo, both for resident minors and for their families and professionals who develop their work in it.
To this are added actions in the educational field, linked to prevention, for students of different groups and levels of the centers of the IES San Sebastián de La Gomera, CEO Santiago Apóstol, CEO Nereida Abreu, CEIP Ruiz de Padrón, and CEIP La hill.
Different conferences have also been held on specific dates, such as the commemoration of Family Day, with activities dedicated to students and associations of the elderly, in order to foster cohesion and communication in the family environment, also promoting intergenerational participation. , and in which the Senior Citizens’ Associations of the island participated.
For International Children’s Day, the Island Institution celebrated the First Children’s Day, provided with work panels for professionals, public and private entities, in which the current situation of child and adolescent health in the island.
Added to these activities is the development of a calendar of workshops carried out with social skills groups from the municipalities of San Sebastián and Agulo, for children between 6 and 12 years of age.
