SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31st July (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Canary Islands Government’s General Directorate of Emergencies will announce a pre-alert status from 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, due to high temperatures in Gran Canaria and the western islands starting from 750 meters.

This determination is based on Aemet’s forecast and/or other available sources, and is in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Weather Events Risks, PEFMA (Decree 18/2014, 20th March).

From tomorrow, there will be a new period of elevated temperatures, particularly in the southern midlands, high areas, and summits. Temperatures will soar to and exceed 30 or 32 degrees in the western islands and 34 or 36 degrees in the summits, high areas, and midlands of southern Gran Canaria.

The public is advised to adhere to the self-protection recommendations provided by the General Directorate of Emergencies.
