Güímar lacks an established network of authorised paths, despite the presence of significant natural resources like Malpaís that are crucial for the region and the island. The Güímar Town Council’s goal is to reclaim the heritage of these walking trails, considering them a part of the municipality’s history. They aim to utilise this as a sustainable asset to promote what is now known as active tourism, with the active involvement of the local community. The project is already in progress, and the participation of citizens is adding more paths to the venture.
