The Inaugural Island Festival of Alternative, Rural and Nature Tourism Will Tackle Sector Changes and Challenges



The Inaugural Island Festival of Alternative, Rural and Nature Tourism will address sector changes. The event is set to take place on Friday, July 12, at the Casa del Vino in El Sauzal, featuring prominent professionals who will brainstorm strategies for a new, more sustainable form of tourism, aimed at ushering in a model shift in this industry.

The day will kick off with a keynote speech by Alejandra Torrent, Head of External Relations at Escapada Rural, followed by a segment on agrotourism featuring Lola Gómez Cerrón, Manager of CLISOL Turismo Agrícola.

Subsequently, economist Carlos Oliver González Montesinos of the Rural Action Group of Tenerife will deliver a lecture focusing on activities complementary to agriculture and livestock farming.

The wine tourism segment will take place from 12.15 pm onwards, with Thomas Perry, a member of the executive committee of the Capitals and Great Vineyards Network and the Bilbao-Rioja Monitoring Committee within GWC, addressing the audience.

Additionally, Enrique Afonso, owner of the Altos de Trevejos Winery, and Agustín García, owner of the Tajinaste wineries, will have their speaking slots.

In the afternoon, a discussion on ecotourism will take place, with participants including the Professional Association of Tourist Guides and Finca El Patio, among others.

The festival is being organised by the Cabildo of Tenerife through the Tenerife Rural Foundation and the Casa del Vino de Tenerife.
