The accused of carrying out the attack on a British tourist allegedly did so when he found her alone with his girlfriend in the room they shared at a hotel in Adeje, in the south of Tenerife.
During the trial held at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the complainant stated that she met the accused’s girlfriend at the hotel’s karaoke and immediately liked her. “I liked her, we got along very well,” she explained, adding that she never mentioned having a boyfriend. Both of them went to the bathroom and then to the couple’s room, where the accused found them. According to the victim, the accused tried to throw her off the balcony and then severely hit her in the face.
The accused’s partner claimed that the victim was very drunk, didn’t know where her room was located, so she took her to hers and laid her on the bed. She stated that when her boyfriend arrived, the victim was in the bathroom. This witness affirmed that the victim’s injuries were caused by her mother, who was very angry because she had drunk too much and took her phone to prevent her from ordering more drinks.
Witness testimonies and evidence

The victim mentioned that on that night she went out to dinner with her mother, but doesn’t recall much of what happened due to her drunken state. During the assault, she called her father, who could hear the screams and blows. The victim was found “completely dazed” next to the pool by a hotel security member and taken to the hospital despite her initial refusal.
She is claiming compensation due to the multiple surgeries she has undergone, but two years later her face has not returned to normal, affecting her breathing and causing partial immobilization in her face, as well as requiring psychological treatment.
The victim’s mother, who testified via video call, recounted that she lost sight of her daughter at the karaoke and found her locked in the bathroom with the accused’s girlfriend. Later, she heard the assault from England when her daughter called her asking for help.
A civil guard stated that the victim panicked upon seeing the photo of her alleged attacker and immediately identified him. Hotel staff did not see any wounds on the accused’s hands, but his girlfriend said he had injured himself at the beach. The security guard mentioned that the accused was very calm and only asked what had happened.
Impact of the injuries

The doctor who operated on the victim the next day stated that the injuries were “very severe” and consistent with a brutal assault, not with a fall from a balcony. The surgery involved placing several titanium plates due to the severity of the fractures.
