Huge beach cleaning initiative at Almáciga and Benijo: even a road sign discovered

On Saturday, 8th June, the Tenerife Island Council conducted a thorough clean-up at Almáciga and Benijo beaches, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to mark World Oceans Day. The event was graced by the presence of the Island Council President, Rosa Dávila; the Insular Director of the Natural Environment, Pedro Millán; as well as the City Councillor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Gladis de León. The initiative included a waste collection drive and an informative and hands-on workshop concerning the issue of microplastics, backed by the Applied Analytical Chemistry Research Group of the University of La Laguna.
