The Plaza Rodríguez Lara in La Victoria de Acentejo will be the venue for the 8th edition of the great night of the local wines this Friday, the 19th, starting from 7.00 pm. 10 wineries and 5 restaurants, offering tapas made with local products, are collaborating in the initiative, which has become a fixed event in the municipality’s leisure programme.
The participating wineries were selected after last week’s 15th bulk wine competition. A team of tasters evaluated over 40 samples provided by locals to analyse their qualities, establishing a ranking of the best ones. These will be the ones available for tasting at the event, which aims to promote the commercialisation of products from the primary sector and support vine growers.
The evening will be entertained by the Parranda “Los Amigos” and the group “Manavi Band”, ensuring good music and a great atmosphere.
Juan Antonio García, Mayor of La Victoria de Acentejo, believes that this proposal “is a recognition of the way this town and its people have always understood nature. Having a small plot to grow your own wine is something deeply rooted in our neighbours, and this event contributes to enhancing that way of life in some way”. He also points out that “it is important to recognise the work and effort of those who till the land to maintain the green landscape that characterises our mid-altitude area; agricultural work, always exposed to weather conditions, pests, and more, is often somewhat ungrateful and precisely for this reason, the perseverance of these small landowners acquires even more value”.
