Man detained after pushing a Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police officer off his motorcycle

A 54-year-old man has been arrested by the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer who was patrolling on a motorcycle last night. The man pulled the officer off the vehicle, causing him various injuries.

The incident took place around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when the arrested individual, known as IMF, stood in the middle of Suárez Guerra Street in the city centre, forcing the officer to stop without any apparent reason.

He then struck the officer forcefully, causing him to fall to the ground along with his motorcycle. The man then attacked the police officer on the ground before fleeing the scene, as stated by the City Council.

According to the medical report, the officer suffered multiple fractures in his foot when the motorcycle fell on him.

Immediate police backup was called for, and the injured officer tried to lift his motorcycle and pursue the attacker.

Several citizens assisted the Local Police by providing information on the attacker’s escape route. Eventually, he was apprehended at Plaza Ireneo González.

When other officers arrived, IMF attempted to assault them again, requiring them to subdue and restrain him due to his significant resistance, as per the City Council.

While the injured officer was taken to a medical facility, the arrested individual was transported to the police station to be handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities.
