Speeding Driver Caught at 130 km/h on Avenida de Anaga in Tenerife, Where the Limit is 50 km/h



Local Police officers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, serving on the Attestado radar team, apprehended a 41-year-old individual driving a BMW car at a speed of 130 km/h where the speed limit is 50 km/h.

This incident took place on Friday, April 5, at 10:50 p.m. on Anaga Avenue, close to the old Sailing School premises, heading towards the city centre.

The driver was notified that he had violated Section 379.1 of the Penal Code by committing a traffic offence due to exceeding the maximum speed allowed on urban roads by more than 60 km/h.

According to a statement by the Local Police, this violation may result in a penalty of 30 to 90 days of community service, a fine ranging from six to twelve months, or, in certain instances, a prison term of three to six months.

In addition, the driver’s license will be suspended for a period of one to four years in all cases.

The driver presented himself at the Local Police radar service in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the previous Wednesday to admit to the offence. He is being investigated for an alleged violation of road safety laws and has been handed over to the corresponding judicial authorities.
