SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
This week, the municipal councils of La Laguna and Tegueste have reached an agreement to jointly request the Tenerife Cabildo, specifically the Natural Environment Area, in the near future. This request is for the insular Corporation to undertake the project for rehabilitating and resurfacing the road providing access to the Mesa Mota natural environment.
The decision was made following a meeting attended by the Works and Infrastructure councilor of La Laguna, Ángel Chinea; the mayor of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena; the Urban Planning and Works councilor of Tegueste, Bernardo González, along with technical representatives from both institutions.
Ángel Chinea declared that the joint request from both municipal bodies will be submitted through the La Laguna City Council. It will be accompanied by a project and a specific budget to speed up the process and commence work promptly, as previously agreed with the Cabildo, which has offered to take on the project. “This action is necessary due to the deteriorating condition of the current road caused by time and the heavy traffic it experiences, particularly during weekends,” explained the mayor.
“In recent years, the La Laguna City Council has undertaken various improvement initiatives across different departments to enhance the surroundings and extend the rural recreational opportunities in this iconic lagoon location. Now, our focus is on enhancing connectivity to ensure convenient access for our residents, with complete assurance,” detailed Chinea.
On the other hand, the mayor of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, expressed gratitude to the insular Natural Environment Area for committing to address the request from both municipalities to carry out enhancement works on the Mesa Mota access road, a place with significant potential that needs to be made accessible and enjoyable for the residents of both areas.
Furthermore, the meeting touched upon other subjects, including the preliminary draft for the partnership agreement for the Lomo Las Rías project, an initiative aimed at enhancing the mobility and accessibility of the region. The project is being prepared by the La Laguna City Council and will be presented to the local residents.
