Drago Canarias has officially established three new territorial units, which now have their own organizational structure. These are Drago Gran Canaria, Drago Tenerife and Drago Aguere, in La Laguna (Tenerife).
The constituent assemblies took place in recent weeks although the National Secretariat of Drago Canarias approved them at the meeting held in Gran Canaria this weekend, as reported by the political organisation in a press release.
The territorial units, they indicate, are the organizational form adopted by Drago Canarias for the municipalities and islands, replicating the party’s structure at a country level for each unit.
Regarding the organizational chart, in the case of Drago Gran Canaria, lawyer Luis de la Barrera will continue to hold the spokesperson position, while in Drago Tenerife, this position will be held by political scientist Carmen Pestano; and in Aguera, it will be Ignacio Martin, a researcher at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canaries (IAC).
The national spokesperson of Drago Canarias, Carmen Peña, has indicated that these three territorial units have been formed in the places where constituent assemblies have been held, “without prejudice to the presence of members on all the islands” although she pointed out that the perspective “in the short and medium term is to continue building throughout the Canary Islands”.
In this sense, she took the opportunity to encourage people to “get in touch with Drago Canarias and start working for a fairer country from their own municipalities, regions, or islands”.

She finally acknowledged that it is a “huge joy to see the strengthening” that the party has been experiencing in recent months, overcoming “many obstacles to get here, but the Canarian society has understood the very delicate moment the archipelago is going through, and now nothing can stop it”.
