Thousands of people enjoyed yesterday the Day Carnival and the intense festive agenda organized by the Department of Festivals of Arona. An organization that considers it has “met all expectations” placed on this event of the Los Cristianos International Carnival by achieving a “remarkable success in participation”.
At 3:00 PM, the Day Carnival Family stage saw the start of the parade of scheduled performances: DJ David Pérez first, followed by Ritmania Fame Academy, Dile Que Si, Fitness Latin Dance, Kuliquitacas, Danzar Sureño, Patricia Chiquiar, Badakatum, and Playeritos.
Next, the party kicked off on the carnival stage, that of Los 40 Pop, which thrilled the audience with performances by Bombai, Adexe & Nau, ST Pedro, Nia, Dellacruz, Ledes Díaz, Mel Ömana, Mantra, and Renzzo el Selector.
The Day Carnival had its fancy dress contest, held in Plaza de la Pescadora, with prizes in the children, adult, groups, and couple categories. Also in the area of the Church Square of Los Cristianos, a space was set up with games, workshops, and bouncy castles for the enjoyment of the little ones. The comparsas Knadum, Ritmo Sureño, and Ay Caramba were in charge of the parade.
As night fell, the X Beach Route of the Carnival began, with prizes for the most original, most horrific, and most outrageous costumes. While the orchestras Ochentera Salsa Classic, Wamampy, and Corinto Band set the rhythm for the carnival dance in the carnival venue.
The Day Carnival of Los Cristianos had a prevention stand consisting of three booths with fun children’s and youth workshops, information on substances, safe sexual practices, and the distribution of condoms. The association Canary Prime provided support for LGBTQIA+ individuals who are victims of hate. All with the support of the awareness and prevention campaign ‘Without alcohol, there is also fun’.
Throughout the weekend, outside the Cultural Centre of Los Cristianos, the Violet Point is set up, an initiative that aims to ensure that both the Carnival and the town’s festivals are safe spaces free from sexist and macho aggression. A service aimed at providing support, reception, guidance, and assistance to women who may suffer any form of gender violence and/or sexual violence, while also serving as a space for information and awareness for the general population.
