SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Popular Party in the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, stated today that Spain is being “abducted” due to the “catastrophic” policies of the Sánchez Government. He added that in the country “reality has been completely distorted and the Canarians have been relegated to second-class status, completely overlooked, as the balance has shifted in favour of a certain party.”
These remarks were made by Manuel Domínguez to the press following the 10th Autonomous Congress of New Generations (NNGG) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Miriam Vega was appointed to lead the youth of the PP in the Islands for the next four years. Beatriz Fanjul, the head of NNGG at the national level, also attended the event.
Domínguez stated, “Spain is being governed by a man who resides outside the national territory, by a party, Junts, whose sole purpose is to once again push for actions that aim for the independence of Catalonia.” He further expressed, “Everything is illogical,” emphasizing that Sánchez’s Government “has put the entire country on standby instead of addressing the pressing issues faced by the Canarians and the rest of the Spanish population.”
The President of the Popular Party in the Canary Islands also mentioned that there is “no vision for the country, only an unwavering commitment to a growing independence movement.” “An explicit example is seen in the recent developments with the General Budgets; Sánchez’s party has frozen the State’s budgets for next year under the pretext of the Catalan elections,” he continued.
“Why wasn’t the same action taken when the elections in Galicia or the upcoming election in the Basque Country were announced, or even when the dates for the European elections in June were confirmed?” questioned Domínguez. “It’s all nonsensical, complete chaos. We can only hope that after the outcomes of the elections in Catalonia, we will have the opportunity in this country to have general elections to determine whether we want to continue being governed from outside or, on the contrary, choose unity and progress. Together in harmony, we can move this country forward, especially the Canary Islands,” he concluded.
