SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ecomuseum of El Tanque, located in Los Partidos de Franquis de Abajo, in the neighborhood of San José de los Llanos, has received a total of 6,196 visitors between January and July, the majority of Spanish nationality, 4,504, between residents and tourists. followed by those of German (534), Chinese (202), Italian (153), French (151) and Russian (106) nationality.

The Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Javier Parrilla, the mayor of El Tanque, Esther Morales, and the councilor for Agriculture of the municipality, David Gorrín, have visited the Ecomuseum this week, which reopened in July of last year, after the end of the confinement period and after incorporating the appropriate security and prevention measures due to the pandemic and a series of improvements in museum resources, such as the incorporation of novel augmented reality museum elements that seek to enrich the experience of the visitors and to make them more participants in the history that is told in these facilities, in which the rural way of life and the agricultural and livestock traditions of the area are shown.
Javier Parrilla underlines in a note that the Ecomuseum of El Tanque “is becoming an example of sustainable tourism, combining tourist exploitation with the well-being of the local population, the conservation of natural and agrarian ecosystems and the rational use of resources “.
In his opinion, “the data for the first half of 2021 suggest that we can meet the results of 2019, where almost 12,000 users were registered.”
In fact, he comments that the visits of local tourists have increased in such a way that it has come to occupy the numbers that in 2019 corresponded to other nationalities, for example, Germans and British, who, due to the pandemic situation, have not come in the desired numbers.
“Our line of work is the consolidation of this resource, a place of interest on the rural world of the area and at the same time an example of tourism sustainability”, he highlights.
INVESTMENT
The counselor points out that this year a total of 203,347.60 euros will be invested in the El Tanque Ecomuseum, between carrying out informative activities on agricultural matters and rural development, maintenance of facilities, equipment, additional works and materials, guide service , and cleaning and surveillance service, among other actions.
Among the novelties of the Ecomuseum, in addition to establishing the security and prevention measures in line with the current context of the pandemic and the pertinent restriction measures, stands out that of a virtual assistant in three-dimensional format with the appearance of one of the neighbors who lived in the area, where he tells the story of each of the houses that make up the Ecomuseum.
Likewise, in the old sales area, you can see the landlord, also in digital format, perfectly integrated into his space, talking about the vicissitudes of his business.
The counselor recalls that to respond to the new context of pandemic, any touch system in the Ecomuseum was eliminated, replacing it with an application that allows the visitor to access all these terminals on their own mobile or tablet.
In this way, when arriving at the halls, with your smartphone or tablet, by using a mobile application, called EnjoyXR Ecomuseo de El Tanque, which can be found both in the Apple App Store and in the Android Play Store, users can activate the videos, handle the interactive ones and even enjoy a virtual experience that until now had to do with virtual reality glasses.
The application also allows access to the digital version of the museum guide to avoid possible contagion situations due to the use of paper brochures. However, those people who do not have digital devices (mobile or tablet) will have at their disposal face-to-face guides of the Ecomuseum itself.
The Ecomuseum of El Tanque, which opened its doors in December 2018, received almost 12,000 visitors during its first year of operation as an educational center, specifically 11,864.
VISITS FROM TUESDAY TO SUNDAY
The visit to the Ecomuseum of El Tanque, an enclosure that remains open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from Tuesday to Sunday, consists of a tour through nine rooms that deal with various topics, such as the origins of the El Partido de Abajo farmhouse –name that was given to this place formerly -, its historical context and the daily life of the neighborhood.
The Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing area has carried out a series of actions in the surroundings of these facilities, such as the construction of a wetland, or green filter, and a lagoon to improve the treatment of wastewater generated by the facilities of the Ecomuseum.
Taking advantage of this resource, with its waters with a sufficient degree of purification, an environment has been enabled with which to attract the birdlife of this area rich in biodiversity and for this, it has the advice of the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO) .
In addition to reptiles, amphibians and mammals, a total of 43 species of birds are cited in the Teno Rural Park.
The specific budget for these works amounted to 60,675.32 euros.
