SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
With the petition of the Public Works, Housing, and Mobility Department, the Government Council of the Canary Islands has sanctioned the disbursement for the extraordinary price revision for the development of the El Tanque-Santiago del Teide stretch, part of the completion of the Tenerife Island Loop, amounting to 7,193,718.70 euros.
This sum will take care of the escalated expenses of materials and workforce during the course of the project, which has been ongoing for over two years. Following the approval from the Government Council, the dossier will undergo preliminary inspection, as it surpasses three million euros.
The activities carried out, with a total budget of 256.5 million euros over a 48-month period, have seen over 56% of the planned budget executed to date, and it is anticipated to conclude by March 2025.
The aim of the new road connecting El Tanque and Santiago del Teide is to enclose the Tenerife Island Loop towards the west. This initiative links the already operational Ring closure sections, providing a road with enhanced capacity and safety compared to the current TF-82, aligning with the requirements of this particular area of the island.
Additionally, opening this highway segment will enhance connectivity between the northern and southern regions of the island on the western side, assisting in alleviating the existing congestion levels on the TF-5 towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
