SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 28. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de La Palma approved today Monday in the Peinpal Advisory Committee the
creation of a route that connects the neighborhood of La Laguna with Las Norias, an action that will begin next Monday, April 4, and that will help the residents of both neighborhoods, as well as other users, to find an easier path and appropriate to reach their homes.
The president of the Cabildo, Mariano Zapata, indicated that, in terms of road infrastructure, “the most urgent thing and as an emergency is to be able to connect the Aridane Valley with the coastal area of Puerto Naos-El Remo and that these communication routes form a system that performs the functions of large infrastructure corridors, such as energy, hydraulics and telecommunications, among which the road that connects the neighborhood of La Laguna with Las Norias stands out, in addition to giving access to the Cabrejas road”.
In this sense, the president explained that the work will be carried out in the north and south directions and that it will have security personnel to guarantee that all the parameters for the safety of the people who work in the action are met. “We will have the involvement of the IGME to monitor the gases and tastings will also be carried out, which will be controlled at the La Laguna fire station, in addition to contracting extra insurance for any inconveniences that we may encounter, since it is a work that, due to its characteristics, can have complications,” Zapata defended.
The insular vice president and insular head of Infrastructure, Borja Perdomo, indicated that the section of the road will be between the neighborhood of La Laguna and Las Norias, located on the old LP-213 Puerto Naos road of insular interest, in the section KP 6+500. “The action will be carried out taking into account at all times the height of the flows, possible lava tubes and convection temperatures,” added Borja Perdomo.
Perdomo explained that the layout of this road “will have a length of 3,287 meters with a maximum longitudinal slope of 10.77% and a minimum of 0.93%”.
The proposed road will connect the neighborhoods of La Laguna with La Bombilla, Puerto Naos and El Remo in its north-south direction. On the other hand, it will communicate with the regional interest road LP-2 Circunvalación sur at PK 41+000 through the insular interest road LP-211 Todoque, at PK 2+100 and the new road built by the Government of the Canary Islands in the volcanic emergency phase called ‘Hoyodel Verdugo’.
