In Santa Cruz de Tenerife on February 6, Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) expressed strong disapproval this Tuesday of the “unacceptable” remarks made by Ana Oramas (CC), Vice President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, regarding the teaching staff of the archipelago. This criticism is viewed as “indicative of CC’s disconnection from the promotion of Canarian identity and culture”.
Hernández raised concerns about Oramas shirking the responsibilities of her political party despite being at the helm of the Ministry of Education for over 20 years. He also highlighted the handover of the department in this legislative term to the Spanish partner of the PP, in violation of the Canarian Education Law or the implementation of budget cuts in Culture for 2024.
“The only thing missing was an apology to the teachers of the islands after her very serious allegations,” he remarked.
The NC-BC parliamentarian denounced that, once again, it is apparent that CC never takes responsibility.
“If it’s not Madrid to blame, it’s the teachers or any other institution or group,” scolded Hernández, emphasizing that this is about “shifting blame because they have never had faith in the matters that define the archipelago and its people”.
