SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 30. (EUROPA PRESS) –
In an effort to develop geothermal energy, a public-private partnership consisting of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the company Disa will allocate a maximum of 86 million euros for conducting explorations in three areas of the island.
The project, slated to commence in 2025 with the anticipation of initial results by year-end, was unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila; the Minister of Innovation, Research, and Development, Juan José Martínez; the director of DISA Renovables, Joaquín Gurriarán, and the director of the Environment area of the Technological Institute of Renewable Energy (ITER), Nemesio Pérez.
Half of the investment, specifically 43.1 million, is sourced from grants provided by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), under the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. The remaining 25% will be shared equally by the Cabildo and the company. However, the full investment may not be required if initial activities yield positive outcomes.
