The Tenerife Island Council, under the jurisdiction of the Highways department, has implemented enhanced safety measures at the exit of the Juan Amigó de Lara tunnel on Avenida Tres de Mayo at the junction of La Rambla with the TF-1 and TF-5.
The Highways Minister, Dámaso Arteaga, elucidated that the initiative involves extending the continuous line and segregating the traffic leaving the Rambla towards the two highways. “The aim is to enhance road safety at a juncture where continuous lane changes were posing risk on the roads,” explained Arteaga.
This decision sparked discussions on social media, given that this continuous line is situated at the exit to the neighborhoods of Chamberí, Ofra, Somosierra, and Los Gladiolos.
Previously, while driving on Tres de Mayo, it was feasible to shift to the right lane, leading to the connection with the TF-1 highway, in addition to the aforementioned neighborhoods. Now, drivers will need to locate an alternative exit.
