Poaching fishermen used gillnet gear (cazonal) for their catches, permitted exclusively for professional use, as reported this Thursday by the Canary Islands Executive.

This action represents a serious infraction, in accordance with Law 17/2003, which could lead to sanctions ranging from 301 to 60,000 euros, as established by the regulations.

Likewise, in Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera, Fisheries Inspection agents have filed charges against two individuals for intercepting the illegal download of 30 kilos of fish in surface fishing in external waters, which exceeds the permitted limit of four kilos per person and day.

In addition to the complaint, the inspectors proceeded to confiscate the excess capture made.
