SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 21. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Redoblones won the first prize for Interpretation and Presentation last night in the Children’s Murgas contest of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2024. The second prize went to Distracted and in third place was Mamelones, while Castorcitos received a second prize.
Regarding the Presentation chapter, the jury awarded the second prize to Distracted, while the third prize went to Mamelones. The runner-up for best costume went to Castorcitos.
More than 4,000 people gathered at the Tenerife Fairgrounds to witness the third and final phase of the Children’s Murgas contest, which included the participation of 16 groups over the three days of the contest. They all performed two songs on stage, in addition to their presentation, parade and farewell.
The Festival Councilor, Javier Caraballero, accompanied by councilors from the municipal government group, were in charge of presenting the prizes to the winning groups.
The groups that participated in the contest were Mamelones, Guachipanduzy, Castorcitos, Triqui Traquitos, Distracted, Retorciditos, Chinchositos, Lenguas Largas, Frikywiky’s, El Cabito, Disimulados, Carricitos, Sofocados, Raviscuditos, Redoblones and Pita Pitos.
The journalists Mariam Moragas and José Marrero were in charge of conducting the three phases of the Murgas Infantiles contest, which was offered live by Mírame Televisión, in addition to Canal 4 Televisión and Ahora TV, while Televisión Canaria will broadcast it on a delayed basis.
The Presentation jury was made up of Maria del Carmen Rodríguez Ortega, Art director and theatrical costume designer; Ana Consolación Amador Pérez, seamstress and textile designer; Paula Plaza Moreno, Doctor of Fine Arts and teacher; Moisés Norberto Pérez Carrillo, senior technician in Applied Arts and window dresser; and Claudia Rebeca Skog Linares, finalist of the 2024 Carnival Poster ‘Gala Prime Time’ and graduate in Fine Arts.
For the Interpretation section, those responsible for failing the awards were Fátima Febles de León, TVC presenter; Pilar Coello Hernández, host of Onda Joven El Rosario; Juan Lima Cuello, general director of Marcha FM; Héctor Javier Fernández Brito (Mago Héctor), child magician; Pablo Fernández Pérez, singer and contestant of La Voz Kids 2022; Ariadna Cabero Lemus (Ariann), singer and winner of international singing festivals and winner of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2019; and Manoly Triviño Alonso, director of the Municipal Plan Choir and White Voices of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
