SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 31. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of La Palma, Borja Perdomo, has criticized the “new non-compliance” of the president of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, in guaranteeing that the recovery work on the section of the LP-2 highway that was affected by The volcanic eruption would begin before the end of 2023 and “the year ends and not a single shovel has come in to work.”
Borja Perdomo has highlighted that this is “another of the many unfulfilled promises” of the Canary Coalition regarding the reconstruction of the Aridane Valley and recalled the “lightness” with which Sergio Rodríguez referred to this road, pointing out that in a few weeks it could to have an auxiliary road open in this section affected by the flows, while, when he became President, he guaranteed that the work would begin before the end of the year.
“The reality is that more than six months have passed and nothing is known about the LP-2 highway, except for unfulfilled promises by the president and his Infrastructure Minister,” said Perdomo, who added that the only commission held in the Cabildo to deal with this matter “caused more confusion than truthful information about this work, revealing the absolute ignorance that its political leaders have about it.”
What’s more, the PSOE spokesperson stressed that even the formula with which they intend to carry out the work, through an agreement with the Canary Islands Government for the Cabildo to execute it, is “a real nonsense”, given that it is a road that is the responsibility of the regional Executive and, in addition, is currently being remodeled.
Borja Perdomo added that the commitment of the Cabildo during the last mandate was “firm” regarding the reconstruction of this section of road to continue improving communications in the Aridane Valley, especially between El Paso and Fuencaliente, aware of the difficulties that its execution entailed. : “Meanwhile, CC did not stop making demagoguery to obtain political gain from this work and now that he is in charge of the Government, both in the Cabildo and in the Canary Islands, he is unable to carry it out in the scheduled time.”
The PSOE spokesperson demands that the president of the Cabildo “fulfill his commitment and decisively face the challenges that lie ahead on the island of La Palma, where the recovery of communications in the Aridane Valley, for which we worked intensively in the previous mandate, it is vital. However, he pointed out that the symptoms “are not good at all, not only given the situation of this work, but in the Budgets of the Cabildo it has only left a symbolic item (5,000 euros) to continue recovering roads affected by the volcano.”
Borja Perdomo warns the president that “the time for demagoguery to obtain political gain is over and it is time for realities, to comply with what is said and, what is more important, with the La Palma society, which does not “He deserves to have false expectations generated by a few votes, but rather trust.”
