SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A canoe with 66 people on board, including a woman and two possible minors, was intercepted today Tuesday while sailing towards the island of El Hierro, as reported by Salvamento Marítimo.
The rescue operation began after the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Tenerife received a notice from the Civil Guard of a suspicious SIVE echo, possible patera or cayuco, 6 miles south of La Restinga.
Maritime Rescue immediately mobilized the ‘Adhara’ rescue boat, which finally located the canoe and is currently accompanying it to the port, where the health and safety device is already deployed.
