Practically 300,000 people followed the Puertos de Tenerife Christmas Concert live on La2 on Spanish Television on December 25, which was “a record number of viewers for what is becoming, par excellence, the live Christmas show of Christmas”, as highlighted by the Port Authority of Tenerife.
Furthermore, the concert filled the available capacity, 8,000 people, at the Los Llanos Dock, to which we must add the followers who enjoyed it through Radio Nacional, the Puertos de Tenerife website and social networks.
This success “represents an important ratification of the acceptance of this celebration that was born as a gift from the port to the city and that next year will celebrate 30 years of history,” adds the Port Authority. As indicated by the president of Puertos de Tenerife, Pedro Suárez, “we have already started working to make it even more special and commemorate such an important date as it deserves.”
Both residents and tourists were able to enjoy one of the most special events on the Chicharrera Christmas agenda, which this year paid tribute to two great music artists such as Elfidio Alonso, founder of Los Sabandeños, and John Williams, American soundtrack composer. of movies.
The public was able to enjoy the first part of the program with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST), under the baton of its director Víctor Pablo Pérez, which began with the hits from composer John Williams’ best-known soundtracks such as Shark, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and Schindler’s List introducing as a novelty the figure of the narrator in the voice of the dubbing actor Salvador Vidal.
The second block of the concert was marked by the emotional tribute to Elfidio Alonso, with the traditional Canarian music of the Los Sabandeños group that performed, among others, the pieces Call me Guanche, The moray eel fisher, Unicorn, Alma Llanera and That afternoon. After the performance, Víctor Pablo Pérez handed over the baton to the founder of Los Sabandeños to symbolically direct his folklore group and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.
The proceeds from ticket sales, together with the contribution made by the DISA Foundation, will be donated in equal parts to three non-profit entities: the inclusive basketball project for children of the Canarian Basketball Foundation, to AFES Salud Mental and to the Community La Milagrosa Social Work.
