A pensioner from Güímar has been exonerated from paying a debt of more than 37,000 euros that she accumulated when her usual income was drastically reduced after a work accident that led to permanent disability.

The insolvency situation of Carmen García, who lives with her mother whom she helps with daily expenses, originated from a work accident that caused a 55% reduction in income. She considered that it would be a temporary situation and that she could recover. However, her health did not improve and she ended up becoming totally permanently disabled, leaving her with an income of 891 euros per month.

Between the health problem that caused additional expenses, the reduction in income and some extraordinary expenses that arose during that period, this woman was forced, to meet her financial obligations, to take out loans that she later could not pay.

After canceling her debts, Carmen explains that the Second Chance Law It represents a new beginning in your life: “At first, it meant recovering too much information, but I thought about it and from Canarias Sin Debuda the service has been very good. I tell anyone who is in my situation not to think about it, not to be afraid because it works.”

The manager of the legal department of Canarias Sin Deuda, María Medina, and the legal advisor, Ana Beatriz Nunes, explain that after studying Carmen’s case, they saw that she met all the requirements to benefit from the Second Chance Law: “Her situation “It is an example of vulnerability after having suffered a work accident, which led to a permanent disability, which resulted in his income being reduced by more than half and resulting in an unsustainable situation due to not being able to pay a personal loan that he had previously acquired.” .
