SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council will allocate 3,150,000 euros to support a total of 274 livestock farmers on the island who were impacted by the significant fire that occurred in Tenerife during the summer of 2023.
The Minister for the Primary Sector, Valentín González, states in a release that this funding is specifically designed to cover the feeding expenses of sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits, and poultry.
González highlights that “these subsidies aim to assist livestock farms affected by the fire in maintaining their productivity and economic sustainability, considering that the fire inflicted severe damage to the sector, compounding the substantial financial losses already experienced due to the rising costs of feed and energy.”
Valentín González further remarks that “this initiative reaffirms the Cabildo’s dedication to the primary sector as a whole, and more specifically to livestock farming, which is a crucial component of our economy,” and in this regard, he mentions that the Cabildo’s goal “is to continue policies that strengthen and promote the primary sector as an activity that contributes to the advancement of Tenerife.”
