The Plenary Hall of the Candelaria City Council witnessed the emotional institutional event in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Inauguration of the Town Hall. Led by Mayor Mari Brito, the event was a tribute to the importance of municipalism and the crucial role City Hall plays in community life.
In her words, Mayor Mari Brito highlighted the relevance of the municipal institution, highlighting the legacy and dedication of her father, who was a councilor in Candelaria at the time of the inauguration of this emblematic building. With an emotional tone, Mari Brito highlighted the value of her family’s commitment to public service and the City Council’s work in the progress of the town.
The Councilor for Protocol, Francisco Pinto, took the floor and recalled that, as an opposition councillor, in the 1987-1991 mandate, “we experienced in each plenary session, the movement of all the furniture in those rooms. From being offices or daily work stations for the staff at the service of the corporation, in the afternoon they became an improvised plenary hall for the 13 members of the municipal corporation.”
The Official Chronicler, Octavio Rodríguez, offered, after him, a biographical sketch of the Town Hall, delving into its history and meaning for Villa Mariana.
Special thanks were extended to the mayors and councilors of different corporations, thanking them for their contribution to the work carried out in the Town Hall throughout these years, recognizing the joint effort for the development and well-being of Candelaria. To conclude, there was a performance by Irene and Elena Fariña, who performed the Candelaria Anthem, a work by Agustín and Manolo Ramos with the collaboration of Octavio Rodríguez.
The celebration was attended by Efraín Medina, Minister of Employment, Education and Youth of the Cabildo of Tenerife and members of the local government group. The commemorative event not only celebrated an architectural milestone, but also reaffirmed the commitment and dedication to Candelaria, highlighting the importance of public service and the work of institutions in the progress of society.
