Mateo and Valeria, the most frequent names in newborns in the Canary Islands in 2022

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE/MADRID, Nov. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Mateo and Valeria are the most frequent names given to newborns in the Canary Islands in 2022, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Thus, of a total of 6,279 children born in the Canary Islands last year, 132 are called Mateo, followed by Liam (119), Hugo (104), Gael (101) and Thiago (98) while in the case of the 5,940 girls , on 119 occasions Valeria was chosen, followed by Sofía (110), Martina (102), Valentina (92) and Lucía (91).

At the national level Lucía, Sofía, Martín and Mateo are the most frequent names given to newborns.

Thus, Lucía was once again the most frequent name given to girls born in Spain in 2022 (with a total of 3,539 newborns called that way), while Sofía (with 2,899) surpassed Martina (2,651) in second place. .

They are followed by Valeria (2,580), who advances from fifth to fourth position, María (2,443), who falls from fourth to fifth position, Julia (2,240), Paula (1,912), Emma (1,864), Olivia (1,862 ), which goes from twelfth to ninth place, and Daniela (1,661), who goes from ninth to tenth.

Meanwhile, among newborn children, Martín maintained the lead (with a total of 3,224 babies who were named that in 2022) and Mateo (3,132) snatched second place from Hugo (3,074).

They are followed by Leo (2,752), Lucas (2,537), who drops from fourth to fifth position, Manuel (2,491), Alejandro (2,281), who rises from eighth to seventh position, Pablo (2,238), who goes from ninth to eighth, Daniel (2,237), who falls from seventh to ninth place, and Álvaro (1,938), who rises from eleventh to tenth place.
