The best routes for bird watching in Los Silos

The bird watching It is a very widespread activity in Canary Islands. The natural beauty of the Islands and the number of native birds make the Archipelago a perfect place for this.

Tenerife It has ideal spaces for bird watching, and if we combine this activity with a walk through nature we have a perfect plan for the weekend. In the northern municipality of Los Silos we find different options where you can make a kick in good company while we also enjoy discovering those little birds that nest in our forests and that help make nature shine more and more beautiful.

From Erjos to Monte del Agua, passing through Cuevas Negras or Las Moradas. Places all of them with a natural beauty that will surprise you.

We propose these trails that belong to the island network and in which you will surely be surprised by the birds that you can see along the way.

Erjos – Las Portelas (Monte del Agua)

The route between Erjos and Monte del Agua It starts in the Plaza de Erjos and takes a path that leads to a dirt track to enter the forest mass. During the journey you can also see areas of cultivated terraces. It’s about a path of medium difficulty which is almost 11 kilometers long and in which you can see a varied poultry fauna.

In fact, in the Monte del Agua area you can see rabiche pigeons to the woodcock, the chaffinch or the blue titamong other.

  • PR-TF 51 San José de Los Llanos – Punta de Teno

  • PR-TF 52.1 Monte del Agua by Las Huertas

  • PR-TF 52.2 Monte del Agua via Las Lagunetas

  • PR-TF 53 Los Silos – Cuevas Negras – Erjos

  • PR-TF 54 Los Silos – Las Moradas – Monte del Agua

  • PR-TF 56 El Palmar – Bolico Summit

The Erjos area is key for bird watching, although along the entire route you can see different Native species which are a gift for bird lovers. This path, which you will walk in the middle of nature, has a distance of about 6 kilometers and walk Erjos, Cuevas Negras and Los Silos. It is a route of medium difficulty that takes place in the Teno Rural Park and connects with other trails such as:

  • PR-TF 51 San José de Los Llanos – Punta de Teno

  • PR-TF 52 Erjos – Las Portelas (Monte del Agua)

  • PR-TF 53.1 Black Caves – Tierra del Trigo

  • PR-TF 54 Los Silos – Las Moradas – Monte del Agua

A mandatory stop for bird watching is the Erjos ponds. Among the birds that stand out in this area are the common rockfish, the common coot, the common snipe and the gray heron. Others birds Related to the aquatic environment that can be observed in this area, although not so frequently, are the alpispa or wagtail, the redshank and the guincho or osprey. Without a doubt, a wonderful experience during a walk through Los Silos.
