The City Council of La Laguna, through the Department of Social Welfare, has scheduled a rich agenda of activities aimed at commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated every year on November 25.

Under the motto Alive and free, up to twenty activities have been planned “that will serve to raise awareness about these types of acts, the consequences they entail in terms of physical and mental health in the victims and the importance of preventing these violent acts through of education, assistance and protection of women,” said the Area Councilor, María Cruz.

“On 25N itself we will have a special agenda, coinciding with the celebration with the White Night, with which we intend to take advantage of the large influx of public on that date,” said the mayor. Specifically, a commemorative event will be held at the Torre de la Concepción, at 1:00 p.m., and there will be a wide network of purple information points distributed among the main squares.

The first two activities planned for the last days of October have already been carried out, with the celebration of the Municipal Women’s Council of La Laguna and the recognition ceremony for the Romí Cacuno Rromanipen 2023 Awards.

November starts with educational talks We want to live: Drawing a future of equality, aimed at the Secondary Education Institutes of La Laguna. On November 10, the presentation of the book Hambre, by Toni Mejías, will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Aguere Cultural Space. The event will be completed with a performance by the band Los niños del Maíz, at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are now available at www.wegow.com.

The presentation of the book Silenced Voices is scheduled for November 22. Franco’s repression on women in La Laguna, led by Luana Surde Villazán in the old convent of Santo Domingo. Between November 27, 28, 39 and 30, talks will be given in educational centers focused on topics such as Trap, Reggaeton and Feminism and Cyberracism and other hate crimes. Among many other activities that will take place throughout this month.

December will put the final point on the agenda with the Tras Lab-Trovadoras Fest concert, on the 2nd at 4:30 p.m., in the old convent of Santo Domingo, and with the talks on the Ubuntu Method, promoted by Xisela Aranda between the 12th , December 13 and 14 (10:00 a.m.).
