On the most terrifying night of the year, the zombies rose up and invaded the center of La Laguna, making both children and adults enjoy fear in this celebration of a new edition of the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walka fun event aimed at audiences of all ages organized by the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival Ciudad de La Laguna, and sponsored by the City Council, through the municipal area of Culture.
Thus, from early in the afternoon the central Plaza del Adelantado hosted the free makeup tents where all those who wanted to participate in this parade of the living dead, unique in the Canary Islands, could characterize themselves as the classic zombies, popularized by cinema, television, comics and fantasy literature.
A crowded Plaza del Adelantado that was presided over by a king kong figure five meters high that was the protagonist of all the selfies of the afternoon and evening, and that, between November 10 and 19, will be installed at Multicines Tenerife, within the framework of the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival Ciudad de La Skull Island Lagoon.
This was the starting point of the zombie march, which started around 8:00 p.m. with dozens of living dead who walked through the city center towards the Plaza de la Concepción through Obispo Rey Redondo Street and back to the starting point. along Herradores Street, astounding, amusing and frightening all the curious people who came to enjoy this parade.
Once the parade was over, the most dedicated participants in their role as the living dead were awarded, in an event that took place on the stage set up in the Plaza del Adelantado and which had three categories: Best Zombie (clothing), Best Walker (zombie performance) and Best Group, as well as several special mentions.
The popular actor and comedian Aarón Gómez repeated as master of ceremonies of this zombie meeting with animation, in which the band Crearte Unión Musical de Tejina, the group Los Joroperos and Renzzo El Selector also participated, and which also had a space gastronomic foodtruck.
It should be remembered that the first installments of the Calavera Island Tenerife Zombie Walk took place in 2018 and 2019 and the event returned after the pandemic in 2022 with great participation, to return this year, for Halloween, within the program of parallel activities of the seventh edition of the Isla Calavera Fantastic Film Festival of the Canary Islands Ciudad de La Laguna, which will take place from November 10 to 19.
Halloween night reaches every corner of the Island
The celebration of the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walk was framed on Halloween night, a festival that gains more followers each year on the Islands, with the multiplication of public and private parties and activities. In La Laguna, for example, a party was held in the plaza of the Valle de Guerra church with bouncy castles, a costume contest and music. Meanwhile, in Santa Cruz, the Casa del Carnaval hosted various children’s activities, as well as storytelling and routes for children and adults. Activities that were repeated in many other municipalities on the Island.
