The PSOE accuses the Government of CC and PP of ‘silence’ the voice of those affected by the La Palma volcano

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The deputy secretary of the PSOE of La Palma and spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo, Borja Perdomo, has regretted that since the arrival of the CC Government to the Presidency, the island has become a “secondary actor” and “the voice has been silenced of the people affected by the volcanic eruption, the reconstruction decrees have been hijacked and the recovery process has been blocked.

This was stated following the recent visit made by the president of the Canary Islands Executive, Fernando Clavijo, together with his vice president, Manuel Domínguez, and the counselor of the Presidency, Nieves Lady Barreto, to hold a meeting with leaders of entities affected by the volcano.

Borja Perdomo has pointed out that the “circus” into which “Nieves Lady Barreto has turned the management of the decrees, blocking the aspirations of the people who lost their homes and the farmers whose farms were taken away by the laundry, is an embarrassing spectacle.” “. “A massive deception to make a series of changes in the reconstruction decrees, with our backs turned to the citizens, aimed at serving we don’t know what interests that we are convinced are not those of the Palma society as a whole,” he added.

“The Government of the Canary Islands has stopped looking at the face of the whole of La Palma society and, therefore, at the reality of our island, and is working in defense of certain interests that it does not even dare to make public through changes in some documents, both the agricultural decree and the urban planning, which were agreed upon through dialogue and participation with the sector and the people affected by the volcano,” added Perdomo.

Likewise, he indicated that they present a budget allocation of 50 million euros for the island “without specifying the purpose for which these funds are going to be allocated, which are clearly insufficient and show that they are not going to fulfill their electoral promises, such as returning the real value of what was lost to the people affected by the La Palma volcano”.

Thus, the socialist leader maintains that La Palma, “the scene of CC’s campaign of misinformation, manipulation and demagoguery, has only had a leading role for the Government of Fernando Clavijo for the massive and forced reintegration of like-minded people for whom it was accommodated.” the structure of the Executive, instead of to serve the general interest of our Island”.

Borja Perdomo pointed out that in the meeting with the visible heads of the affected associations, Clavijo, Domínguez and Lady Barreto “were incapable of conveying concrete measures, but rather generalities about matters that they previously maintained were urgent, such as housing for the affected people.”

“Without a plan, a strategy for recovery, the Government of the Canary Islands, like that of the Cabildo of La Palma, does not advance in the recovery of our Island, beyond continuing with the route marked by the previous government in the management of Puerto Naos and La Bombilla, which was not discussed at that meeting, based on the public information provided by the regional Executive,” Perdomo stressed.

“Like the recovery of the LP-2 highway, of which we have no news from the Canarian Government, which is the one who, in theory, is going to finance this work, which we always defended was necessary to finish recovering the communications affected by the eruption. volcanic,” said the socialist leader.

“We expect actions and not just words, realities and less demagoguery, because La Palma cannot wait for a Government that is slowing down the recovery process, flagrantly failing to fulfill its commitments to Isla Bonita,” he concluded.
