Road infrastructure of the islandand, specifically, the variant of the TF-5 in La Laguna, returned yesterday to the plenary session of the Council with a motion from the PSOE and in whose debate the Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, stated that the work does not yet have a “definitive project”, so it cannot be put out to tender and recalled the negative reports that exist from the Cabildo.
Specifically, the PSOE motion, which did not go ahead, asked to guarantee that the Canarian Government continued to promote the works included in the 2018-2027 Highway Agreement, and among which the socialists prioritized the bypass project and the Fañabé tunnel. -Playa de Las Américas.
On the other hand, a replacement amendment presented by the insular Government (CC-PP), and supported by Vox, was approved, which includes eight points with the aim of continuing to promote the execution of the works of said agreement, and among which urges the regional government to agree on the solution to the ring road project The lagoon with the Cabildo and begin the works after the appropriate legal processing, as well as for the project of said tunnel in the South. Among other works, such as the third lanes of both highways.
The insular Minister of Highways stated that “we have never opposed the execution of the work” of the projects that the PSOE wanted to prioritize, but noted that “I believe that there is still a process to be done to begin this work.”
Specifically, regarding the TF-5 variant, Dámaso Arteaga indicated that “the definitive project” has not yet been delivered, where the execution of the work is specified, “which had a deadline and should have been delivered in July and “For whatever circumstances, the Government of the Canary Islands has not received the definitive document and the construction project,” he explained later.
When he receives it, which he hopes will be “soon,” “it will have to be technically supervised” by the Government, he explained, and also recalled that there are reports from the Cabildo “with a series of reservations” that must be cleared up, so Coordination and consensus with the Council is necessary for “the best solution.” “So there are still a few steps left before we happily say that we can now bid,” he emphasized. Regarding these reports from the Highway Area with reluctance regarding the variant, they say: “It is understood that the layout project not only makes the development of part of the island road network foreseen in the approved territorial plan impossible, but also, “it generates modifications on island mobility with unknown consequences and without the existence of a prior justification that guarantees the socioeconomic profitability of the investment,” Arteaga read. Furthermore, “any serious incident that occurs inside (the four-kilometer tunnel) can cause social alarm,” he continued reading from the report.
From the PSOE, Manuel Martínez indicated that “we do not want to think that this work is being delayed because there is a political decision that could understand that there is another alternative,” and defended that they are two projects that “do not consume territory, have low environmental impact and almost “They do not affect daily traffic.” “It is a long process that can last more than 900 days, so we cannot continue wasting even one more minute,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, from the PP, Manuel Fernández insisted, regarding the variant, that “there are unfavorable technical reports from the Cabildo, at the expense of the execution project, which is not presented, resolving those technical doubts.” He pointed out that one of them is that “the famous Exterior Route is not contemplated in the layout project and it would be irresponsible to spend almost 400 million on a work that then is not left for the future, whether it is wanted to be done or not, that is another debate. , the Outer Way.”
For her part, Vox spokesperson Ana Salazar advocated that “partisan issues be left behind and that work be done for the people.”
Tram line 2
On the other hand, the extension of the tram lines also reached the plenary session through a question from the PSOE, in which the Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García, responded that “the beginning of the extension of Line 2”, until Muñeco de Nieve, “is the one that is most urgent because it has everything, and if we don’t start next year the environmental impact report will expire.” But she also opted to start the rest of the projects that exist, among which she highlighted that “it is also a priority” to reach Tacoronte or, at least, to Los Rodeos.
In another order of issues, the plenary session also approved a motion, with the exception of Vox, which recognizes the uniqueness of the food delivery entities, for which the aid fund will be maintained, with the intention of even increase it.
