Adeje lives its patron saint festivities animating the streets to the sound of music

The patron saint festivities of Adeje have enlivened the streets this weekend with music, humor and recreational activities of different kinds. The seven neighborhoods of Adeje have taken a tour of the traditions Canary Islands and extending to the deepest part of the Caribbean. Today, it will be the little ones who take over the streets with a battery of activities focused on children that will culminate at dusk with the humorous notes of five island comedians.

Emotion took over Spain Square of Adeje since last Friday, with the Canary Islands and Caribbean Gala Show, an event that marked the beginning of the recreational-festive activities of the Patron Saint Festivities of Adeje 2023. The queens of Adeje were the epicenter of this show that exuded rhythms, traditions , dance and performances.

This unique event featured diverse talents such as Beanky Ballet, Ballet de Tenerife, the Municipal Group of the Adeje Folklore School, the performances of Quimbao La Nuit and Toke Latino. The Gala was presented by the charismatic Daida Reyes and Víctor J. García.

One of the most outstanding moments of the Gala was the presentation of the representatives of the different neighborhoods of the municipality, who, through clothing and music, highlighted the close historical relationship between the Canary Islands and the Caribbean.

During the night, the Adejera queens exhibited the different typical costumes that represent Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, along with traditional Canarian clothing. This cultural fusion managed to highlight the importance of emigration in the historical and cultural development of Adeje.

On Saturday the party moved to the streets in a first edition of Callejeando, a new formula for understanding the municipality’s traditional float parade. Under this new commitment, the Adejero city council installed up to three stages along Grande Street in which musical performances of all kinds gathered. To accompany the performances, parades from different cultural groups are incorporated until giving way to the queen’s float.

Yesterday the solemn acts of the celebrations were held. During the afternoon, the municipal flag was moved from the Town Hall to the main church, which hosted the mass sung by the Camerata Mencey Tinguaro Musical Association, and the offering of the different parishes of the municipality to the patron saint. After the mass, the procession of the venerated image took place. During the night the musical touch was provided by the singer Soraya.

During today’s day the municipality will be dedicated to the little ones who will be able to go to the children’s playground, enjoy bouncy castles and workshops in the field of Soccer from Adeje. The humorous note will be provided by Aarón Gómez, Kike Pérez, Pili Batista, Lili Quintana and Yaneli Hernández, Canarian comedians with extensive experience in the archipelago.
