He Tenerife Council I’ll set it up starting October 23 two shuttle buses with the University of La Laguna (ULL) that will leave Icode (608) and Cross port (603) without going through the La Laguna interchange in order to help the traffic flow.

This was announced this Tuesday by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, when she reported on the 90-day period to which she committed to try to alleviate the queues on the island, also highlighting that she has hired 75 new drivers –25 start this month– and are reinforced nine lines with more journeys.

In this way, line 108 (Los Realejos-Santa Cruz) stands out, which goes from 65 to 94 trips; the Icod-Santa Cruz line (108), which goes from 35 to 62; line 100 (Puerto de la Cruz-Santa Cruz), which increases from 11 to 14; 473 (Los Cristianos-Los Gigantes), which goes from 58 to 70, and 470 (Médano-Los Cristianos), which goes up from 32 to 42.

Dávila has expressed satisfaction with the twenty measures implemented since she became President with the commitment that there was no need to “give up” or “cross our arms like the previous government team did,” and she has made it clear that the The solution to the queues will not arrive in 2028, as PSOE and CS predicted in the last mandate. “We are on the right path,” she added.

In this sense, he has insisted that he cannot be criticized “for not having stopped working” and has insisted that his fight against the queues was not an “electoral campaign” message but that “you cannot turn your back on him.” ” to the problems of Tenerife.

Regarding the rest of the measures, Dávila has also announced that throughout this month traffic at the Padre Anchieta roundabout will be regulated through traffic lights – while the walkway is not installed – and within a period of approximately two weeks will close access to the TF-5 highway through Guamasa between 06:00 and 10:00 a.m. and traffic will be diverted along the airport road in the Santa Cruz direction.

FREE CRANE SERVICE ON HIGHWAYS

Dávila, who has appeared before the media alongside the Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, the Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García and the Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, has also announced the launch of a transportation service. Free tow trucks that will operate during peak hours and in areas of high traffic congestion to remove vehicles more quickly.

The president has also highlighted the incorporation of one more tram to line 1 to reinforce peak hours, the contract to acquire 247 new buses with her own funds, ruling out the credit operation of the previous government team that involved the payment of 20 million in interest , the lowering of the limit from 15 to 10 monthly trips to achieve free transportation vouchers, the progressive withdrawal of heavy trucks early in the morning from the busiest roads or promoting the car-sharing ‘app’ together with the ULL.

Lope Afonso has pointed out that the commitment to improve mobility on the island “concerns the entire Government” because it is the “most important” problem on the island given that it hinders economic competitiveness and is also a challenge in the fight against climate change. .

For this reason, it has indicated that a pilot experience will soon begin, together with Ashotel, to offer collective transportation for workers in the large tourist centers of the north and south, a measure that can benefit up to a maximum of 1,800 workers.

He has also indicated that if the measure works it can be replicated in other sectors such as large shopping centers or industrial estates.

Both Dávila and Arteaga have taken advantage of their appearance before journalists to ask for more concentration and to avoid “distractions” behind the wheel since so far this year there have already been two accidents in which road maintenance service workers have been injured, the last this Monday in La Orotava.
