They are studying expanding Tenerife-New York flight frequencies

A group of five American journalists has been exploring Tenerife as a tourist destination in collaboration with the Cabildo through Turismo de Tenerife. These professionals work in recognized media such as USA Today, esquire and Wine Enthusiast, among others. The possibility of expanding the frequencies of these Tenerife-New York flights, attracting more tourists, is one of the keys.

Lope Afonso, vice president and advisor of Tourism of the Cabildo, has highlighted the importance of the United States as a preferred market for Tenerife. Ties with this issuing market have been strengthened through various actions, such as participation in fairs and the intention to expand air connections between Tenerife South and New York. In recent years, before the pandemicthere was a 76% increase in the number of American visitors, and now efforts are being made to consolidate this issuing market.

Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tenerife Tourism, has highlighted the effort to position the island in the North American market and has underlined the increase in interest in Tenerife thanks to knowledge of its attractions. In addition, she has mentioned the goal of continuing to move in this direction, especially by collaborating with the airline United Airlines and its flight straight to Tenerife, which would reactivate the flow of passengers to the island.

He program The journalists’ stay on the island, which took place from the 9th to the 15th of this month, included various visits and activities, such as hiking, Whale watching in Los Gigantestasting wines at Bodega El Lomovisit to the Wind Cave in Icod de los Vinos and exploration of history of Garachico and Puerto de la Cruz.

The journalists who participated in this experience include Vicki Denig, specialized in wine and travel; Rachel Belkin, with a focus on travel, business, technology and lifestyle; John Sizemore, travel writer and photographer; Jesse Scott, focused on the food industry; and Katie Jackson, who writes about luxury travel, lifestyle and food.

Besides, the presence of Tenerife in the United States has been strengthened by its participation in Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas, a major professional event where it connects with luxury travel agents from around the world. Tenerife has carried out various joint campaigns with the American tourism industry, which has contributed to increasing interest in the island in the North American market. More than 100 work meetings have also been held with representatives of tourism companies in Las Vegas.
