The Council of Tenerife has destined this monday 200,000 euros to the fishermen’s associations of Tenerife as a subsidy, as specified by the island corporation in a statement.
The 200,000 euros of subsidy have been distributed among all the brotherhoods of the island: Our Lady of Light, Our Lady of Candelaria, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, San Roque and Isla Baja, San Marcos, Our Lady of Consolation, Our Lady of Las Mercedes, Great Power of God, Saint Andrew and San Miguel de Tajao.
In the note, the island councilor for the Primary Sector, Valentín González, explained that the aid that It has been distributed according to the criteria of the number of boats that each brotherhood has in its base port, as of December 31 of the year prior to this call.
The subsidy is also made in relation to the fishing production declared and registered in the procedure for the first sale of fishing products carried out by each brotherhood between January 1 and December 31 of the year prior to the year of the call.
González has considered that “measures like this contribute to the defense and strengthening of the primary sector”especially “fishing, as an economic activity closely linked to the culture and traditions Canary Islands“.
